WASHINGTON — Some major health insurance companies have stopped issuing certain types of policies for children, an unintended consequence of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law, state officials said Friday. Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty said in his state UnitedHealthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield have stopped issuing new policies that cover children individually. It’s an idea that might have consumers slightly worried, but Rene Obermann, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile’s parent company, has stated in a recent interview that Apple and Google should pay more for higher-quality mobile data, as iPhones and Android devices use a lot of data on the network, and should be slapped with an extra surcharge if they need an exceptionally fast or reliable network for media streaming.
