This is probably the kind of stunt that will have tongues wagging away, and that was probably the idea when AT&T decided to prop up a mysterious monolith display at stores across the country, apparently dubbed the “Hero” display, and states “innovation comes to life” and “Rethink Possible”, which has been AT&T’s slogan recently. Hopefully it’s a cool new handset, perhaps the BlackBerry 9800 slider , though some folks are also speculating that it might be related to the Dell Streak .

With a price of $999 (around £645) the monitor is certainly going to be considered high-end, but the Apple product is droolworthy. Although what you see here is actually the display unit, it has been derived that the Intensity II will feature a full QWERTY sliding keyboard, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a pretty cheap $1 price tag from Best Buy as long as you agree to a 2-year contract

AT&T’s move to jettison its unlimited mobile data plan and charge more for heavier use puts a roadblock in the plans of media providers trying to push Internet TV, according to a report released Tuesday by iSuppli. Faced with more people grabbing more data, AT&T recently switched to a tiered pricing plan in hopes of limiting the strain on its 3G networks from devices like the iPhone and iPad . And Verizon is likely to follow suit .
