Canadian iPhone 4 Gets iPad Sharing Data Option

Canadian users will be the envy of many American iOS consumers as the Canadian iPhone 4 will get a 6 GB iPhone plan from wireless carrier Rogers–compared to the $25 2 GB on AT&T–as well as an option for iPad sharing. That’s right, you can share you iPhone’s data plan, something you haven’t been able to do, with a WiFi-only iPad for only $20 more a month, which is inline with AT&T’s tethering plan though the US carrier doesn’t offer a means to tether your iPhone to the iPad. According to a new report by One World Computing, it will be extremely difficult, though not impossible, to install a secondary solid state drive (SSD) to the new 27-inch iMac introduced earlier this week as part of Apple’s desktop upgrades. While the new iMac can support a secondary drive, unless you order one with the secondary SSD pre-installed from Apple, there are no mounting brackets or connectors for easy installation.

App Genome Project Reveals Spyware Capabilities of Smartphone Apps

After combatting many years of desktop spyware, users must be more cognizant now of the apps, webpages, and content they put on their mobile devices as smartphones are gaining more potential. At the Black Hat security conference, Lookout, which does analysis of web applications and the access that is given to apps on phones, have identified a number of vulnerabilities on the iOS iPhone platform as well as Google Android. The project is called the App Genome Project, which found that 14% of free iPhone apps and 8% of freeware apps on Android have the ability to collect contact data on a phone–all without the user’s knowledge.
